Thyroid and Parathyroid

All Surgical Clinical Associate Surgeons are experts in treating conditions involving abnormalities of the thyroid and parathyroid glands. Typically, issues with the thyroid involve either hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism. Hyperthyroidism is when the thyroid produces too much hormone, and hypothyroidism occurs when the thyroid does not produce enough thyroid hormone. Both conditions can cause various changes in your body’s normal functions. It is also possible that nodules can develop on the thyroid gland leading to cancer of the thyroid.

Similarly, hyperparathyroidism is when the parathyroid gland produces too much hormone and hypoparathyroidism is when the gland does not produce enough hormone. When hyperparathyroidism occurs, you may feel weak or tired. Generally, the condition can be treated with medications or surgery. With surgery, we use a minimally invasive procedure to remove a part of the parathyroid gland.
