When the appendix becomes inflamed or infected, we perform a minimally invasive procedure known as an appendectomy to remove the appendix. While inflammation and infection of the appendix can occur spontaneously, it is often occurring due to something blocking the appendix. This results in an emergency medical situation that must be surgically treated immediately. If the condition is not treated immediately, the appendix can rupture.

To ensure a minimally painful procedure and quick recovery, we often perform appendectomy using a minimally invasive laparoscopic technique. This involves placing a light and camera in the abdomen through small incisions. In many cases, it is possible to have your surgery in the morning and to return home the same day.
